Congrats to Harley who was adopted last week after 4 1/2 years at the shelter. She was adopted by Miltie, a veteran Hi Tor volunteer, and she’s doing great!
This handsome 10 years-young guy is Milton. He has quickly won the hearts of staff and volunteers alike. He was brought in as a stray and appeared to have been outside for quite a while. When he came in, he was full of ticks, but after our staff cleaned him up and a vet visit, Milton is now doing great. He needs some leash walking skills and he knows some basic commands but, he’s quite a sweetie. Milton wants to live out his days as an only pet. Due to his strength, a home with teenagers twelve and up would be best.
Sosa is a lovable Great Dane/ Dogo mix. Sosa thinks he’s a 15-pound lap dog that just so happens to easily reach your face for kisses. He’s seven years-old who was found by the police as a stray. He was brought to a local vet and checked out because he was malnourished and very, very skinny. His chip was registered to a person in Pennsylvania who sold him on Craigslist, so we have no idea how he ended up in Rockland! Sosa is great with people and kids. He is extra-large but very gentle. He would need a meet-and-greet with any other dogs but could not live with cats.
Soltan is a two- to three-year-old mutt. Handsome with his five o’clock shadow, this young pup is active and fun. He is working on his leash walking skills and knows some basic commands. He is especially distracted by our resident cats, and that means he needs a cat-free household. This handsome guy will be a great companion with a little consistency, training and structure. Come rescue Soltan, he will be the best friend one could ask for.
For more information on Milton, Sosa or Soltan please email Doug at doug@hitor.org. To apply for adoption visit www.hitor.org.
Check out this 8 ½ year-old group of kittens! They are all currently in foster care. Atticus is an 8 1/2 week-old kitten who is very energetic and the most outgoing of the group. He’s very social and very curious and not afraid of anything! Scout is very nurturing to her siblings, she is like the mama of the group. She is a born leader and the most curious. Scout is always the first to investigate. Radley is very energetic, and like any kitten he should be, but he can also be very shy, as well. He takes a bit to warm up to you. He loves to sit and watch his siblings play and roughhouse.
Please email Kristine at Kristine@hitor.org for an application or you can download one from hitor.org. Once approved, we can schedule a meet-and-greet.

SHELLY: A super-sweet little girl who came into foster care with a severe illness which left her with a permanent loss of vision in one eye, but that doesn’t stop her from being the most inquisitive and super-curious kitten of her litter mates. She doesn’t want to miss a thing and will follow you everywhere hoping to find something new and exciting to explore. She loves people and being held even more! One of her favorite places to be is on her foster mom’s shoulders while hugging her head.
HEWEY: This little guy is a certified lap kitten, happiest with company (human or kitten), he doesn’t like being by himself. Playful, smart, inquisitive, he’s another happy go lucky, well-socialized kitten in this happy bunch.
CARNY: This little girl is very loving and care-free. She loves to play with her littermates, but she is also ok being by herself. She’s a champion cuddler, but something may catch her attention and off she goes to a new adventure! Carny will follow her favorite human around the house, she’s definitely a follower, not a leader.
CARLY: This little girl is the best-est snuggle bunny of them all. She would love to sit in your lap for hours. She’s the sweetest little thing who can’t wait to climb into your arms for an all-day snuggle fest.
DAVEY: Davey foster’s mom is not embarrassed to gush over this little guy. There’s no other place he’d rather be than in her arms being carried around. He’s a smart little guy who follows his foster mom everywhere. He’s a guaranteed purrrrr machine, his little motor starts the moment she comes into their room. He doesn’t mind the family dog and enjoys the company of anyone who pays any attention to him.
DEWEY: Another super-loving, super social, super playful little boy who seeks the company of others. Dewey loves being held and carried around. This docile little guy would do best being adopted with a littermate – double the love, double the fun!!!

Kandi and Kane are 15-month-old sibling pups who have only been at the shelter about two weeks. They were surrendered together after their owner could no longer care for them. They are sweet, gentle and calm especially for their age. They take treats very nicely and love to play together outside. However, they are both stressed and are having a very hard time adjusting to shelter life. We would love to keep them together since they have been together since they were born.
Teddy is a 2-year-old shepherd mix who was surrendered to us in May 2019. He is a playful pup who has done well with other friendly dogs in his old home but will chase cats if given the chance. He is looking for a home with older teens (16+) or adults. He is house-trained and knows most of his commands. Please share Teddy so we can find him a great family.
All Storm wants is some love from her very own family who loves her. She promises she will adore you. Storm is a two-year-old terrier mix. She was brought to Hi Tor from a very kind vet. She had a urinary tract infection and had not been spayed and her owner decided there was something wrong and they didn’t want her. She would benefit from an experienced dog owner and someone who wants to stay active with her. Storm is super affectionate and loves sitting next to her favorite people. Email Doug@hitor.org for more info about Kandi, Kane, Teddy or Storm.
Reece is a six-year-old female cat who was surrendered back in August because her owner could no longer care for her. Reece is a gorgeous cat who loves to be pet and enjoys human attention. She does not like other cats so she would need to be the only cat in the house. Stop by this weekend and meet her.
Tom is a cat who has been through a lot. He was found in a box at the top of the shelter driveway. It took him awhile to trust our staff but now he is the sweetest most lovable cat. He cannot get enough of pets and ear scratches. We estimate his age to be about four-years-old and he would need a meet and greet with any other cats. For more info on Reece and Tom please email amber@hitor.org.

The face that melts your heart is Arlo. She is 2 to 3 years-old and her eyes will melt your soul while her flopping jowls will make you laugh. Arlo is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly to her human friends. She enjoys the companionship of other dogs with a proper meet and greet. She would do best in a home with teens and adults.
This handsome guy is Blu. Blu is approximately two to three-years old. Blu is a strong handsome guy who is looking for an experienced owner. His favorite game to play is fetch and he knows his basic commands. Once Blu finds his people his heart is devoted wholly to you. Blu would thrive in a home with adults and no cats.
Handsome Cody is one to two years old. He came in very afraid, but, is adjusting nicely. He is a bit fearful at first but he has a gentle way of warming up to everyone. Cody is house-trained. He is going to be one happy dog when he goes home, and we believe some of that fear will subside. The shelter can be a scary place for some pups. And from what we can see, this guy is going to be a great part of a family when his family comes and finds him.
Cooper has the cutest expression. That look in the photo is the one he’s always giving, like “hoomans, really?” One to two-years-old, Cooper is afraid at the shelter but is slowly adjusting. He is extra-sensitive to noise and prefers a slow approach. With that kind of way about you, he will certainly love you. He likes everyone who gives him the time to come to them on his own terms.
Corgi alert!!! Rambo is our newest pup. He loves everyone. His favorite thing to do is play ball, he will fetch and bring it back to you. He gets excited for his walks and has loved everyone he meets. We believe Rambo will be a great part of any kind of family, kids or teens.
Sosa is a lovable Great Dane-Dogo mix. Sosa thinks he’s a 15-pound lap dog that just so happens to easily reach your face for kisses. Sosa is a 7-year-old Great Dane mix who was found by the police as a stray. He was brought to a local vet and checked out because he was malnourished and very skinny. He would need a meet and greet with any other dogs but could not live with cats. For more information on Sosa, Arlo, Blu, Cody, Cooper or Rambo please email Doug@hitor.org.
