Opening day for the New York Boulders is still two months away, but excitement about joining the new Frontier League this season has chief scout Kevin Tuve excited not only for the fans but for the players…

Tuve grew up in Montvale and went to St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, where he helped coach the women’s softball team.

A former Nanuet pitching standout is returning home to play for the New York Boulders this season, their inaugural year in the Frontier League. 26 year-old Colin Kelly pitched for Nanuet High School until 2011, then went on to Catholic University in Washington, DC. Kelly says it was an easy decision to sign with the Boulders last fall and play here…

Kelly’s pitched for a few pro teams, including the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League.

A top college running program has gotten stronger. LoHud.com says North Rockland High School senior Katelyn Tuohy, the holder of the national girls outdoor track mile mark and other U.S. track and cross-country records, will run next year for North Carolina State University.

The Boulders are hosting an open house tomorrow at the stadium in Pomona. The Boulders’ V-P of Business Development Seth Cantor says at the “Pick your seat, Pick your Puppy” event there’ll be free mini-golf, and you can meet members of the team and Pepper Jack the Bat Dog…

The Rockland Boulders’ took on the Sussex County Miners yesterday down two games to one in game four of the first round of the CanAm League playoffs in New Jersey. The Boulders were held hitless through the first 6 1/3 innings. They were down 7-0 late, and closed to within 8-4 in the 8th. There was a man on with two out and Grant Heyman at the plate…

And that was Marc Ernay on the Boulders Broadcast Network, after a brief umpire meeting and no replay, it was ruled a catch and the inning and rally came to an end. The final was 8-4. It’ll be an all New Jersey CanAm League final as the Miners go on to the Championship to face the New Jersey Jackals who beat the Three Rivers Eagles in five.
