After 60 years, despite selling its campus to the town of Clarkstown, the Rockland Country Day School has been unable to increase enrollment or make enough from donations, and will close at the end of the month. The private pre-K to 12th grade school campus on Kings Highway in Congers was sold to the town last year and they leased it back, but still weren’t able to make ends meet. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says if the school can’t continue their lease, the town could move forward with other plans for the property…
In a letter posted to the school’s website, the school said they were “heartbroken” to announce they’d be closing before the school year starts and said they are committed to assisting families, teachers, and staff with the transition. We reached out to the school’s administration, but have not heard back.
