A reported domestic disturbance call in Nyack that turned fatal in late May is being reviewed by the state. That’s according to the Journal News. The Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation is reportedly conducting a preliminary assessment, which could lead to a formal investigation. The incident involved 19 year-old Sean Harris of Central Nyack. Clarkstown Police said the teen died after a tense standoff. Harris and the Clarkstown Police Department Negotiator Team had been speaking, but after about an hour the conversations then stopped. Police say he refused several orders to drop a baseball bat, prompting an officer to use a “less lethal impact munition” to strike him in the lower left abdomen, sending the teen back into his home. Police say they found Harris sitting in a bathroom with around two dozen open pill bottles and hundreds of pills. Harris was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann called the incident a terrible tragedy…
The incident is also reportedly is being reviewed by the county. Since the incident took place, friends of the family and members of the community have been gathering each day in downtown Nyack, protesting and seeking answers as to what happened to Harris.
