A Congers man has been arrested and charged with selling the powerful opioid, Fentanyl, to six people who overdosed, all between the ages of 19 and 24 years-old, two of whom died. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, says 25 year-old Justin Turnick faces life in prison for the incidents that took place between February 2020 and April of last year. Williams says Turnick was well aware of the dangers of the drug, as he watched three of the victims overdose. In 2021, Rockland County reported 70 overdose deaths. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco told “The Morning Show” recently that opioid use is down so far this year…
Williams says Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 49. Turnick is charged with two counts of narcotics distribution resulting in death, and four counts of narcotics distribution resulting in serious bodily injury. Each count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.
