A Congers woman and her son are facing federal charges of distributing unregistered and misbranded pesticides, and interstate shipment of four-million dollars’ worth of misbranded animal drugs. U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Romero, says 70 year-old Bien King and her son, 36 year-old Khalil King, ran a business in the city called “Little City Dogs.” Romero says the Kings bought unapproved pesticides and animal drugs, including ivermectin, fipronil and others from various Chinese suppliers, who reportedly mislabeled the shipments to avoid inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors. Romero says the Kings would mix and repackage the drugs for resale throughout the country. According to a GoFundMe page called “Save Little City Dogs,” despite making a deal with the FDA in 2014, the FDA took everything from their offices two years ago, including the artwork off their walls. So far they have raised just over $18,000 for their defense. If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of 19 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a $1.4 million fine.
