Work has begun on a $19.4 million project to fix two old bridges on the New York State Thruway in the town of Ramapo. New York’s Governor announced yesterday the work’s being done on the two 70 year-old bridges in Suffern located on I-87 between exit 14B in Airmont and Exit 15 I-287 to New Jersey. Drivers will begin to see lane shifts during construction, but there will always be three travel lanes open in each direction. The work includes the repairs and replacement for the bridges that go over Route 202 and the Mahwah River. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of next year.
