The COVID-19 Delta variant has been found in Rockland County. The Rockland Health Department has confirmed at least four cases of the highly contagious variant were found during the second week of July. The rate of cases and the positivity rate in Rockland have increased over the last several weeks, likely due to the Delta variant. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert urge those who are not yet vaccinated to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as possible. They say unvaccinated individuals have accounted for nearly all recent COVID deaths, the total number standing at 968. To get a vaccine, go to Vaccines.gov or the New York State “Am I Eligible” webpage. You can also call the Rockland County COVID Call Center at 845-238-1956, or click here.
