Advocates for domestic violence victims and Rockland state lawmakers are calling on the governor to sign a bill that would make reporting abuse easier. Current law requires abuse victims to file police reports in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. The bill, which is sponsored by Senator David Carlucci and Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, was inspired by a Rockland domestic violence survivor who tried to report a crime at the town of Haverstraw police station, but was unable to because the crime occurred in Queens.
