Election Day is tomorrow, early voting is done, and by Wednesday we could know who the next President of the United States will be, oh, and also, there are local elections as well. Some of the local races include, Republican Mike Lawler, the 17th District Congressman facing off against former Congressman, Democrat Mondaire Jones. The 38th New York State Senate District features incumbent Republican Bill Weber against former Senator, Democrat Elijah Reichlin-Melnick. In the Assembly, two candidates are vying for the seat held by former 96th district Assemblyman, Democrat Ken Zebrowski, they are Democrat Patrick Carroll and Republican Ronny Diz. In the 97th District, the race features incumbent Republican John McGowan against Ramapo Legislator, Democrat Aron Wieder. For all New York State voters, on the back of the ballot, there’s Proposition One, called an “Amendment to Protect Against Unequal Treatment.” The proposal would codify protections in the constitution based on ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, and sex, including sexual orientation, gender identity and pregnancy. Assemblyman Chris Eachus of the 99th District, a Democrat covering Stony Point and parts of Orange County, says he supports the proposal, he thinks it’ll pass, and those who are against it have it wrong…
Gothamist.com said a recent Siena College poll found 69% of voters questioned said they supported the measure while 22% said they were against it.
