The East Ramapo school district is getting a new interim superintendent. The Journal News reports the school board appointed Raymond Giamartino to succeed Dr. Deborah Wortham when she leaves October first to take over the Roosevelt school district on Long Island. Giamartino recently served as the chief accountability officer for Rochester City Schools. The district meanwhile is appealing a federal court ruling forcing East Ramapo to enact a ward-style system for electing school board seats, instead of the current at-large voting system that was challenged by the Spring Valley NAACP.
