A hearing is scheduled for this afternoon in federal court that could potentially derail Sunday’s start of the MTA’s congestion pricing plan for motorists entering Manhattan and going below 60th Street. On Monday, federal judge Leo Gordon left the door open while seemingly slamming it shut, rejecting most of New Jersey’s complaints about the impact of congestion pricing, but adding the air quality concerns and the effects on New Jersey communities should be studied further. Unless anything changes, congestion pricing will charge most drivers an extra nine dollars daily, for now, to get into the city and drive below 60th Street starting on Sunday.
