A former Airmont Village Trustee has pleaded guilty to six felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Rockland District Attorney Tom Walsh says Brian Downey will be sentenced on June 27th. He faces two years behind bars. Walsh says his sentence will run concurrently with his sentence on a single federal gun charge, to which he pled guilty last month. Downey was arrested in September 2021 and charged with possession of unregistered firearms, federal badges and ID cards. Airmont mayor Nathan Bubel has since appointed Planning Board member Morris Friedman to take over Downey’s seat, which he won in March 2019.
