A Haverstraw man faces up to seven years in state prison after he was convicted of sexually abusing a nine year-old girl years ago. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh says 47 year-old Elmer Oviedo-Sandoval was convicted after a nearly two-week trial. Walsh says the abuse took place multiple times in the victim’s Ramapo home over a three-year period starting in 2016. She told her mother of the abuse last year when she was 16, and they reported it to the Ramapo Police Department. Oviedo-Sandoval is being held in the Rockland County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
