A Haverstraw man was killed after a crash in Orange County Wednesday afternoon. That’s according to DailyVoice.com. The report said 28-year-old Dillon Ortiz died after driving onto the shoulder of Route 293 in the town of Highlands, passing a dump truck and then re-entering the roadway. Police said he crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a pickup truck that was traveling southbound. Ortiz’ car rolled off the eastern shoulder of the roadway and came to rest in a wooded area. Police found him in his car with a serious head injury. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the pickup truck, a 28 year-old woman from Lyndhurst, New Jersey, was treated at an area hospital for a broken leg. The crash is under investigation.
