New York and the Hudson Valley are suffering from a blood emergency shortage. The New York Blood Center says the region’s ongoing heatwave and summer travel have caused a significant decrease in donations over the past several weeks. The blood supply currently stands at a 1–2 day level, which is well below the ideal level of 5-7 days. As such, there is a blood drive being held tomorrow from noon to 6PM at Palisades Center. It’s on Level One near H&M. All blood donors will receive a voucher to redeem a free pint of beer, cider, wine or soft drink at a local participating brewery or restaurant. To make an appointment, donors can call 1-800-933-2566 or visit https://www.nybc.org/donate-blood.
