Hundreds gathered in Pearl River Saturday for a candlelight vigil with the hopes of keeping two killers behind bars. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says he’s concerned that Richard LaBarbera, who was granted parole late last month for the murder of 16 year-old Paula Bohovesky in 1980, could come back to his hometown, and no one would know…
Robert McCain, the other man convicted of Bohovesky’s murder, remains in prison for now, but is expected to come before the parole board any day now. Bohovesky supporters are hoping the governor reverses the parole board’s decision on LaBarbera and keeps him in prison. Bohovesky was beaten, stabbed and sexually assaulted while on her way home from the Pearl River Library.
