A 41-year-old Monsey volunteer firefighter faces fraud charges for reportedly working several jobs while out on disability and accepting more than $100,000 in state benefits. The New York State Inspector General and Rockland’s acting District Attorney Kevin Gilleece say the president of the Monsey Fire Department, Raphael Ziegler, also a New Hempstead fire inspector, accepted Medicaid payments for his transportation business after not providing his employees with required workers compensation. He was arrested yesterday on several felony fraud charges. He was released without bail and is due back in court in March.
