More democratic lawmakers, including federal representatives, are calling on New York’s governor to resign in the wake of the nursing home, sexual harassment and now the growing Tappan Zee Bridge scandals. In a joint statement Friday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said because of the serious allegations of abuse and misconduct, Governor Andrew Cuomo should resign. Rockland Congressman Mondaire Jones has added his name to that list, along with more than two dozen other New York representatives. In a statement, Jones called Cuomo “unfit to continue leading our state.” Jones also wants a Department of Transportation investigation into the alleged coverup of bolts that reportedly broke during the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The state Assembly has launched an impeachment investigation, and Attorney General Letitia James has already begun her independent investigation into the various sexual harassment and related allegations.
