Demolition is near complete at the former retail shopping center on the westbound side of Route 59 by College Avenue in Nanuet that’ll make way for a future Chick-fil-A. The horse that emerged as the winner turned out to be the town of Ramapo, which earlier this year got the county’s first, and so far, only, Chick-fil-A in the village of Sloatsburg. The Thruway Authority opened one at the redesigned rest area on I-87 in September. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says it’s unfortunate that neither the town nor the village directly benefits financially from their high-volume sales…
Though he playfully teased Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny over his apparent win, Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann did need to be reminded, he wasn’t actually first. Hoehmann however is looking at cornering the market on fast food in the fried chicken category…
And technically Orangetown could still emerge as the second town to get a Chick-fil-A, possibly at the empty pads in the Stop & Shop Plaza in Orangeburg, though at this stage it’s not likely. But if not, Kenny told “The Morning Show” recently something else could go there…
No word on whether Haverstraw or Stony Point might enter the Chick-fil-A fray as well. The Nanuet location isn’t slated to be completed until next summer.
