New York’s 15-month COVID state of emergency is over. At the end of the day, thanks to increased vaccination rates, declining hospitalization and overall positivity statewide, the governor has lifted the state of emergency that’s been in effect since March 7th last year. Federal CDC guidance will remain in effect, which includes mask-wearing for those who aren’t vaccinated, and all riders on public transit and in various other settings. With the ruling, the governor no longer has his emergency executive powers.
