Report: More Layoffs for RCC
RCC in Suffern will be going through more layoffs and furloughs than originally anticipated. That’s according to the Journal News. RCC’s president couldn’t put a number on the number of staff that would be affected, but he said more cost-cutting measures are needed to handle a $4 million deficit. President of the Federation of Teachers local, Kristopher Baker, told the Board of Trustees the layoffs could come to one-fifth of the school’s faculty. The board voted two months ago to lay off nine administrator positions and institute nine days of furloughs — days off without pay — during the first half of this year for faculty, administrators and other employees, saving about $1.6 million.
