An agreement has been reached between the state and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Governor Kathy Hochul says the deal puts the prison strikes to an end and state prison correction officers back to work by tomorrow. The deal, reached with the help of a mediator over the last few days, reportedly includes changes to address staffing shortages and provisions to minimize mandatory 24-hour overtime shifts.
Former Bon Secours Chief Tapped for Rockland Health Department
The Rockland County Department of Health has a new commissioner. Dr. Mary Leahy was appointed and officially started on Wednesday in her new role. She most recently served as CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System, a position she’d held since 2013. Dr. Leahy is a board-certified internist who has practiced medicine in Rockland County for more than three decades.
New NYS Police Troop F Commander
New York State Police Troop F in Middletown has a new Commander, in charge of investigative operations in Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Greene counties. With 23 years of service, Major Andre Terry becomes the 20th Troop F Commander. Terry began his career with the State Police in 2002, becoming Captain in 2023.
