NJT Raises Rates
While commuters who drive into the city may be facing a congestion pricing toll in June, those who take New Jersey Transit trains will have to pay 15 percent more come July. The NJT board voted unanimously yesterday to raise the rates on their bus, light rail, and train lines. That includes the Pascack Valley line with stops in Pearl River, Nanuet and Spring Valley, and the Port Jervis line which services Suffern, Sloatsburg and several stations in Orange County. It’s the first rate increase since 2015. Ridership dropped off during the pandemic, which NJT says cost them $2 billion in revenue.
