Haverstraw Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found by neighbors after they hadn’t seen him for a while. That’s according to News 12. The man’s body was found inside his apartment near New Main Street and Maple Avenue Thursday morning. Neighbors checked out a smell coming from the home which had not been locked, and found the man dead in his bed. Police are investigating.
Guilty Pleas in Illegal Cannabis Case
Three Rockland residents and five companies accused of being involved with local smoke shops that were operating as illegal cannabis storefronts pleaded guilty Wednesday in Rockland County Court. D-A Tom Walsh says the investigation began over a year ago, with search warrants being executed in March at five shops in Suffern, Nanuet and Pearl River. Cops were able to secure more than $415,000 and 405 pounds of cannabis from five Zava stores, none was licensed to sell marijuana. 36 year-old Ibrahim Alfalahi of Nanuet, 44 year-old Abdo Alquhshi of Nyack, and 29 year-old Sadek Alfalahi of Nanuet each pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Tax Fraud in the Second Degree. The defendants will be sentenced in October. It’s not clear what their sentences will be.
West Nyack Residents Nabbed in Bud Bus Bust
Two West Nyack residents connected to the so-called “Bud Bus” were busted Wednesday on drug charges after several raids on locations in the tri-state area, including West Nyack, and Hewitt, Manahawkin and Keyport in New Jersey. That’s according to NorthJersey.com. William and Jennifer Schlette were arrested and charged by West Milford, New Jersey, Police and reportedly face drug and money laundering charges. Authorities reportedly seized 150 pounds of cannabis and more than $200,000. “Bud Bus” is a mobile business that sells smoking-related products.
