A Nyack man was charged with a shooting in the village late Friday night. The Journal News says Orangetown Police charged 61 year-old Eddie Sanchez after a man was shot at the Nyack Plaza apartments. He was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Nyack Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail. The victim was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. His identity and condition are not known. The shooting is under investigation by Orangetown’s Detective Bureau. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or if you have any information about it is asked to call Orangetown police at 845-359-3700.
A Rockland grand jury has declined to charge a 21-year-old Garnerville resident with murder stemming from a shooting last September in Stony Point. That’s according to the Journal News. Javier Medina was originally charged with second-degree murder. Stony Point Police Chief Edward Finn told the Journal News that, based on the investigation since the incident, the the grand jury made the correct decision. Medina had been charged with shooting 47 year-old Jason Colwell in the chest during a domestic dispute.
Several were seriously injured after an accident on Route 59 in Ramapo Saturday afternoon. Ramapo Police say the road was closed for hours near the intersection of Airmont Road after three cars collided.
