The driver of an oil delivery truck was taken to Westchester Medical Center yesterday morning after he was pinned beneath his own truck in Pomona. Town Police chief John Gould says the unidentified driver had reportedly just completed an oil delivery around 9:30 Thursday morning, and while securing the oil hose at the rear of the truck, which was parked on a hill on Buckingham Court, the truck began to roll backward. The truck rolled over the driver and down an embankment. The truck driver was conscious but suffered multiple injuries. No word on his condition at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Department of Transportation, the Haverstraw Detective Division, and the Town of Ramapo Accident Reconstruction team.
Haverstraw Man Gets Prison After Sex Conviction
A Haverstraw man is heading to state prison after he was convicted over the summer of sexual misconduct involving a child. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh says 47 year-old Elmer Sandoval was sentenced yesterday to six years in state prison after he was convicted in August of one count of “Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child.” Walsh says Sandoval subjected the girl to unwanted sexual contact starting in 2016 when she was just nine years old. Walsh says the victim came forward and reported the incidents last year when she was 16. In addition to the six years behind bars, Rockland County Court Judge Anne Bianchi gave him ten years of post-release supervision. He’s also required to register as a Sex Offender.
