New Jersey’s governor Phil Murphy yesterday signed an Executive Order allowing movie theaters and other indoor performance venues to reopen Friday. Capacity will be capped at 25 percent or 150, whichever is less. Though New York, New Jersey and Connecticut had formed a pact to do things in a coordinated way when COVID-19 first struck, it hasn’t always turned out that way. Right now, there’s no indication when movie theaters in New York might open. COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got five in the hospital being examined, another four have been confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 14,255 reported cases, 58 more than yesterday, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 674 fatalities here in the county, unchanged for five weeks.
