North Rockland’s varsity football team has a new coach for the first time in a decade. That’s when Coach Joseph Casarella was replaced by Tom Lynch. James Hickey was the team’s quarterback when he was a North Rockland student at the beginning of the century, and worked under Tom Lynch, who passed away last December. Hickey is now the 2004 graduate-turned-head coach. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kris Felicello says Coach Lynch’s spirit will live on in Coach Hickey…
Prior to joining North Rockland, Hickey coached at William Paterson University and at Don Bosco Prep and Randolph High School in New Jersey. He also played college football at C.W. Post and Bryant. The team’s opener tomorrow is a home, non-conference game against Monroe-Woodbury at 1pm.
