The AI revolution will require enormous amounts of computing power, and they may need nuclear to step in and fill the gaps that other power alternatives are ready to handle yet. NPR reported Friday that Three Mile Island, the power plant near Middletown, Pennsylvania, primarily known as the scene of the worst commercial nuclear accident in American history, will reopen to power Microsoft’s data centers. Constellation Energy made that announcement Friday. Locally, Holtec International and area officials have been trying to come up with ways to safely clean up the Indian Point site that’s been closed for years.
