New York’s legislative session came to an end Friday with a flurry of bills passed by state lawmakers. The budget tackled a number of issues, including housing, the tuition assistance program, the cost of insulin, medical debt, a higher minimum wage, and childcare. The Associated Press reported Hochul had sought to get emergency funding for the MTA in the budget but that didn’t happen. That now reportedly leaves a billion-dollar hole in the MTA’s budget that was intended to help fund various improvements to the system, including the addition of electric buses, accessible subway stations and new signals.
