The New York State Committee on Investigations and Government Operations is looking into housing conditions and code enforcement in four municipalities including the town of Ramapo. North Rockland State Senator James Skoufis is on the committee, and expects the investigation will expose slumlords, identify best practices, and determine areas where enforcement can be improved…
The investigation began in January. Other areas targeted include Mount Vernon, Newburgh and Albany. Skoufis says all four communities are cooperating and he expects a public hearing to be held locally sometime soon.
