New York State’s highest court has voided Clarkstown’s term limits law, giving the current supervisor the chance to run again. Lohud.com reported the decision came down on Friday. The Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision that the Town Board had illegally adopted the 2014 law without putting it before a residents’ vote. Town supervisor George Hoehmann was a councilman at the time the law was adopted and voted in favor of it. Hoehmann and GOP Chairman Lawrence Garvey are expected to run in a primary and then the winner would face off against town clerk, Democrat Justin Sweet.
