The New York State Legislature Wednesday night passed the “Climate Leadership and Community Protection” act, which calls for an aggressive push towards clean energy usage, including solar and offshore wind power. Stony Point and Orange County Assemblyman Colin Schmitt voted against the measure, and says though he is for protecting the environment and combating climate change, the new bill creates a decision-making authority called a “climate council” that he says won’t be accountable to the public…

And just like a bunch of other bills recently passed by the legislature in the waning hours of this year’s session, it still needs the governor’s signature to become law.
