The owner of a Nanuet roofing company will spend the next four months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a single count of willfully violating OSHA regulations, resulting in the death of an employee two years ago. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, says 41 year-old Jose Lema was responsible when one of his employees fell off the roof of a building in New Square they were working on. Similar incidents had also happened at other worksites previously that were also being investigated. U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith McCarthy called the victim’s death “avoidable.”
