The parents of 44 students at a private school in Chestnut Ridge have reportedly filed a federal lawsuit against the Rockland County health department and its order keeping their kids from attending school because they haven’t had their measles vaccinations. Lohud.com reported the lawsuit claims that the health department’s order violates religious objections to vaccinations that families at the Green Meadow Waldorf School hold. They claim the ban is unnecessary because the cases have been confined to Hasidic Jewish communities in Rockland and no cases have been reported among anyone at Green Meadow. A school spokesperson says they have been working closely with the department of health for the past three months and they are in full compliance with the exclusion order.
