Penalties for those who break building codes in Spring Valley have been increased to be a greater deterrent for those who might seek to take construction shortcuts. The spotlight has been turned up on the village’s code enforcement practices since the death over a year ago of Spring Valley volunteer firefighter Jared Lloyd. He was killed responding to a blaze at the Evergreen Adult Home in March 2021.
