It’s primary day in Rockland as in-person voting is under way. There are candidates vying for positions in several races. Ramapo Legislator Aron Wieder and former Spring Valley Trustee Eudson Tyson Francois are the two Democrats looking to unseat Republican John McGowan in the 97th Assembly District. McGowan himself faces a challenge for the Conservative line from Thomas Sullivan. Former Congressman Mondaire Jones faces a challenge from Anthony Frascone for the Working Families line in the race for the 17th Congressional district. In the 38th NYS Senate district, former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick and Barbara Francis are competing to be on the Working Families line. The big race in Westchester features Congressman Jamaal Bowman and County Executive George Latimer both vying for the Democratic nod for the 16th Congressional district. Other primary races in Rockland include trustees for the villages of Sloatsburg and Piermont, and for the position of Justice in the village of Spring Valley. Polls are open until 9pm.
