Rockland County Democrats and Republicans vote today primary races. There’s the presidential primary and their electoral college representatives and there are Democratic and Republican primaries in New York’s 38th Senatorial District. State senator David Carlucci is running for the Congressional seat being vacated by Nita Lowey, but he’s not the only one interested in the spot. There’s Adam Schleifer, a former federal prosecutor; Mondaire Jones, a lawyer from East Ramapo, formerly with Westchester County Law Department; Evelyn Farkas, a former member of the Obama administration; Asha Castleberry-Hernandez, a teacher and former major in the U.S. Army Reserve; Allison Fine, a social entrepreneur who’s worked with nonprofit organizations; Catherine Parker, a Westchester legislator and business owner; and David Buchwald, a Westchester-based state assemblyman.
Running to fill David Carlucci’s state senate seat are Democrats Justin Sweet, Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, and Eudson Francois. Republicans can choose from either Bill Weber or Matthew Weinberg.
Party members had the ability to vote early or due to the COVID-19 situation, vote by mail with an absentee ballot. You can also choose to vote in-person today until 9 pm.
