The town of Ramapo is holding a public hearing Wednesday and the board could vote then or later this month on a bill designed to give Rockland volunteer EMS and firefighters a break on local property and school taxes. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says it could help prevent volunteers from leaving for greener pastures elsewhere, and they’d like the public’s input on it…
Local volunteers could get a tax credit of up to 10% under the state bill that local governments could opt into. Volunteers would have to have at least two years of service to qualify for the 10% exemption. The meeting is tonight at Ramapo town hall at 7pm.
