An NYPD official from Rockland faces charges after allegedly trying to avoid being nabbed for drunk driving two years ago. WPIX News reported NYPD Deputy Inspector Paul Zangrilli tried to get a bar near Penn Station to erase security camera footage of him having a dozen drinks there and then getting into an accident with a cab while he was a passenger in his unmarked police vehicle. His girlfriend was allegedly driving at the time, but then he took the wheel to leave the scene and was followed by the cabbie. Zangrilli is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, falsifying business records and tampering with physical evidence. He’s reportedly been suspended without pay. Zangrilli has been with the NYPD since 2005. He is due back in court in September.
