In yesterday’s Primary Election Results, Rockland Assemblyman Mike Lawler pulled far ahead of a crowded five-candidate field of Republicans running for the 17th Congressional District. Lawler got nearly 76 percent of the vote, the second place vote-getter was Somers Town Board member William Faulkner with about 12 percent. Rockland County legislator Charles Falciglia placed third in the race with nearly nine percent.
Lawler will take on upstate Congressman, Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney, who soundly defeated Bronx-Westchester State Senator Alessandra Biaggi with two-thirds of the vote.
Rockland’s current Congressman, Mondaire Jones, placed third out of a 13-candidate field in his race for Congress in District 10 covering lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. Dan Goldman, the lead attorney in the first impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump, was the projected winner with nearly 26 percent of the vote. Jones got 18 percent. Jones left Rockland when his district was re-drawn following the 2020 Census.
