A peacekeeping force backed by the international community needs to help Haiti get gangs under control. That’s according to Rockland Congressman Mike Lawler of the 17th district. The Associated Press recently reported more than six-thousand people have fled their homes following an attack by heavily-armed gang members that killed at least 70 people. Lawler says he continues to bring up the situation in Haiti in the House Foreign Affairs committee. Violence in Haiti has been on the rise since the president was assassinated in 2021.
