Legislation was re-introduced yesterday by Rockland’s Congresswoman that would name the Rockland V-A community clinic in New City as the “Jerry Donnellan VA Community Clinic.” Donnellan was well-known as a dedicated advocate for Rockland veterans and a Vietnam veteran himself. Congresswoman Nita Lowey says opening the first county veterans’ homeless shelter and establishing an award to recognize the contributions of African-American veterans, were only a few of his accomplishments…
Donnellan was drafted into the Army in July 1968 and served with the 196th Light Infantry in Vietnam, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Donnellan died in March last year at the age of 71.
