A retired Orangetown Police Detective has been tapped as the new Director of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force. Rockland D-A Tom Walsh says Matthew Ryder has more than thirty years of law enforcement and narcotics investigative experience, and his main job will be to fight the opioid epidemic that’s killed more than 100 Rocklanders in the past two years. Ryder succeeds former Haverstraw detective sergeant George Lutz, who was let go last month. The D-A’s office has not provided additional details on that.
