A Rockland County Jail inmate from Wesley Hills has been indicted for the attempted murder of a corrections officer earlier this month that was thwarted by another inmate. Rockland County D-A Tom Walsh says 32 year-old Israel Gourion faces charges of Second Degree Assault and Second Degree Strangulation as well. Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco said the other inmate, who has not publicly been identified, broke the chokehold and held him down until her colleagues arrived…
Both Falco and Walsh say the inmate’s actions likely saved the corrections officer’s life.
