A Rockland County jail inmate has been praised, thanked and given extra commissary benefits after he helped save the life of a county correction officer last week who was attacked by another inmate. Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says the unidentified inmate broke the choke-hold another inmate had on the officer and held him until help arrived…
Falco says he’ll be officially informing the D-A and judge in his case about his heroic deeds last week. The officer who was attacked is recovering, but not yet back at work. 31 year-old Israel Simon Gourion of Wesley Hills had been jailed on criminal contempt charges, but now also faces Attempted Murder, second degree Assault, and second degree Strangulation charges as well.
