The public hearing on the proposed new law is tonight at 7pm at the county office building in New City. Public comment can still be submitted by email to legclerk@co.rockland.ny.us also until 7pm tonight.
In a statement issued last night, Rockland County Executive Ed Day said he has submitted the proposed $1.5 million budget for the Office of Buildings and Codes to the Rockland County Legislature for their approval. The budget includes funding for staff, equipment, computer software and more. They’ll need at least 12 full- and part-time Building and Fire Inspectors and five support staff, and possibly contractors. The group would occupy space in the Pomona Health Complex. Former Suffern Mayor and NYPD Officer Ed Markunas is being tapped to serve as director, pending approval.
