The COVID death toll is up again in Rockland, it now stands at 1,006, up one since last week. But the big jump in the county is in active cases, with an increase of more than 800 to 2,121, and hospitalizations, which has nearly doubled in the last two weeks, two-thirds of those are unvaccinated. Rockland’s county executive says 20 percent of hospital beds and 38 percent of ICU beds are available at Good Samaritan and Nyack Hospitals, leaving plenty of capacity for daily emergencies and regularly scheduled procedures.
