If you’re under the age of 18 and you haven’t had your measles shots, as of midnight last night you are not allowed in public. There have been 153 cases of measles and 84% of those have been in children under the age of 18. As such, Rockland’s County Executive declared a State of Emergency over the largest outbreak of measles since 2000 when it was virtually eradicated in the U-S. The Health Department is hosting a free MMR vaccination clinic from 1-3 this afternoon on the 2nd floor of Building A at the Pomona Health Complex. Parents of kids who violate the emergency order could face a $500 fine and/or six months in jail.
